POSTPONED DUE TO COVID: How to Be an Activist: Combating Censorship for Grades 4-8

POSTPONED DUE TO COVID: How to Be an Activist: Combating Censorship for Grades 4-8

Join our RPL Children's Librarians in a discussion of book challenges, bans, and censorship. We invite anyone in grades 4-8 to join us as we look at books that are currently being challenged across the United States. We will also prepare for any challenges students might face in their own schools or libraries. This program is designed for elementary and middle school students because censorship affects even the youngest of readers. High school volunteers will also attend this program to offer their perspective.

How to Be An Activist programs will continue throughout the year, and attendees of Combating Censorship will have the option to continue this section as different grade leveled book clubs.

Registration is required.

Face coverings are required for all individuals aged two years and above while indoors at the Reading Public Library except where an individual is unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition or disability. Children under 2 are exempt from face covering requirements. Please follow the updated COVID-19 guidelines if you’ve tested positive, been in close contact, or are experiencing new symptoms.
