Reading Rockets: A Parent & Child Book Discussion for Grades 5-6

Reading Rockets: A Parent & Child Book Discussion for Grades 5-6

This discussion group is designed for students in grades 5 & 6 and their caregiver. Together we'll talk about characters, setting, language, art and much more. WHO is your favorite (or least favorite) character? WHY did they make the choices they did? WHAT would you do if you were in the same situation? HOW did the author(s) present the story and conflict?

Sign up below with information about both the student(s) and the caregiver(s) who will attend. When you register, you are signing up for the entire school year, 8 discussion dates.

November's title: Ophie's Ghosts by Justina Ireland
Copies of the book will be provided to participants.

The Reading Public Library asks that unvaccinated patrons continue to wear masks during indoor and outdoor library events when they can’t socially distance. For now, masks are required during Children’s programming for the safety of our youngest patrons who are ineligible for vaccination. Children 2 and under are exempt from face covering requirements. Please stay home if you’ve been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive or been diagnosed with COVID 19 in the past 14 days or are experiencing any of the following new symptoms as listed on the state’s website.
