Teens Cook: Back to School Basics - Making a Better Breakfast
Learn how to make two different breakfast recipes in a mug step-by-step right from your own kitchen with "Chef" Susan! All you need is a mug (2), a microwave, an appetite, and the list of ingredients below!
Open to teens entering grades 6-12. This is an online event via Zoom. An invite will be sent at least an hour prior to the start of the program to the email given at registration. Be sure to check your spam box if the invite does not appear in your inbox.
French Toast Ingredients:
(Substitute ingredients for gluten or dairy-free options if preferred.)
- 1 piece buttered bread (Challah bread is recommended, but you can use whatever you like.)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- a pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips (mini chocolate chips melt nicely)
- Powdered sugar (optional)
- Cinnamon sugar (optional)
Omelette Ingredients:
(Substitute ingredients for dairy-free options or your favorite vegetables if preferred.)
- Cooking spray or extra virgin olive oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 tablespoon grated cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red or green bell pepper
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped chives or green onion
- Pinch salt
- Pinch of black pepper
