Writing Boxes: Workshop for Grades 2-5

We know writing can be stressful for school-aged kids. You have so many ideas; getting them down on paper (without getting in your own way) is hard! At our Writing Boxes workshops, kids in Grades 2-5 will have fun writing and creating in a nonjudgmental setting. Writing is an essential piece of literacy; our goal is to have writing be a joyful experience for kids. At the Writing Box workshops, we’ll take off our editor hats and allow ourselves a time and place to create freely.

Each week, we’ll explore a different kind of writing:
1) Maps
2) Cartoons & Comics
3) Menus & Recipes
4) Hieroglyphics
5) Newspapers & Magazines
6) Postcards & Letters
7) Poetry
8) Handmade Books

Each session will include a brief lesson, lots of mentor texts for inspiration, and time for thinking, writing, and sharing. Registration is required for the 8 week program; sign up below starting December 4.
