Gun Safety Discussion for Parents and Guardians
Do you ask about the presence of guns before your child visits another household? Join volunteers from Everytown for Gun Safety to learn how to discuss gun safety with other caregivers and get tips on how to talk to your kids about guns in an age-appropriate way.
Both gun owners and non-gun owners can Be SMART for Kids and ensure that kids never have access to unsecured guns by following the Be SMART acronym:
Secure all guns in your homes and vehicles
Model responsible behavior around guns
Ask about the presence of guns in other homes
Recognize the role of guns in suicide
Tell your peers to Be SMART
Secure gun storage can save lives. Let's normalize the conversation about secure gun storage and keep our kids safe!
Be SMART for Kids is a national PTA-endorsed program developed by the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund to help adults normalize conversations about gun safety and take responsible actions that can prevent child gun deaths and injuries.
