Learn American Mah Jongg with Alissa

Learn American Mah Jongg with Alissa

Have you wanted to learn how to play Mah Jongg, but weren't exactly sure where to begin?  The Reading Public Library is fortunate to have an experienced instructor in Assistant Librarian Alissa, who will teach a progressive five-class introduction to American Mah Jongg on Wednesday afternoons in January. This fascinating and eternally popular game has been proven to keep minds sharp while also offering a wonderful social outlet. We will start with a very brief history, familiarize ourselves with the basics and then move into playing the game. These classes are geared towards beginners, but there is a lot of ground to cover, so attendance to all in sequence (January 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31) is necessary. We will be following the National Mah Jongg League rules and using the NMJL card, which will be provided for you.

Space is limited-- come and join in the fun!!

This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Reading Public Library.
