Meet Award-Winning Illustrator Javaka Steptoe
Come meet children's book illustrator Javaka Steptoe! He will be sharing his award-winning picture book Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Mr. Steptoe won both the 2017 Caldecott Award and the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award for this title; he is the first illustrator to win both awards in the same year.
Radiant Child is illustrated in a vibrant collage style, reminiscent of Basquiat's work. Learn about the creation of the story and the stunning artwork that was years in the making.
After his engaging presentation, books will be available for purchase and signing.
