Reading Without Walls - Summer Book Group

Take the Reading Without Walls Challenge this summer by reading and discussing something that helps you read a little outside of your comfort zone. It's a great way to meet people over coffee and explore the world through books.  Weather permitting, we will be discussing without walls too - on the outside patio!  (2nd floor)  This book group for adults warmly welcomes high school students.  Copies of this title are available at the Borrower Services Desk

Challenge 2: Read a book about a topic you don't know much about.  Growing up in South Africa.

Image result for born a crimeBorn a Crime by Trevor Noah.
Noah's path from apartheid South Africa to the desk of The Daily Show began with a criminal act: his birth. Born to a white Swiss father and a black Xhosa mother, at the time such a union was punishable by five years in prison. As he struggles to find himself in a world where he was never supposed to exist, his mother is determined to save her son from the cycle of poverty, violence, and abuse that would ultimately threaten her own life. With an incisive wit and unflinching honesty, Noah weaves together a moving yet funny portrait of a boy making his way through a damaged world in a dangerous time.
